Free Visa Travel within East Africa

The East African Tourism Platform, the regional tourism apex body affiliated to the East African Community, has in no doubt now recorded one of their most significant achievements. Just but a few days ago, Kenya came on board to make Visa free travel among the three East African countries of Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya a reality.

Registered expatriates with work permits or residency will now be issued an ‘Interstate Pass’, something similar to the East African citizens who now travel with their ID or Voters Cards, allowing cost free entry from their country of residence to the other two countries.

The move is highly welcomed by the expatriates who will now be assured to be saving approximately USD 200 off visa fees!

However, Burundi have now announced that from Burundi from 01st of March onward will halt the issuing of visitor passes and Visas on arrival and all travellers will be forced to process visas in advance.

7 Reasons to Stopover in Mauritius

Long haul business travellers know that flying takes its toll on the body and mind, and increasingly, more and more people are adding stopovers into their itinerary. For a few days rest and relaxation between flights, we can’t think of a better stopover destination than Mauritius – so here’s 7 simple reasons why you should consider a flying visit during your next long haul trip.

1.Experience the tropics

Year-round good weather is one of the most obviously appealing reasons to stopover in Mauritius, especially if travelling between cities in more temperate climates. Flying between two far-flung destinations in the depth of winter is exponentially improved by a few days of Indian Ocean sunshine. And what could be better than a few delicious days of warmth before another few months of cold winds and grey skies?

2.Stay in a luxury hotel

The luxury hotels of Mauritius are an obvious choice for stopover stays. There’s constant connectivity if you need it, but also the chance to switch off, do nothing and completely unwind. High-end properties are used to serving the varied needs of a global clientele, and can tailor their service and offerings to suit your requirements. So whether you’re looking to fit in some golf, try your hand at kitesurfing, or simply catch up on emails by the pool, the island’s luxury resorts will make sure you get what you need.

3.Enjoy some inter-flight wellness

A gap between long-haul flights is the perfect reason to visit the spa, and as one of the ultimate wellness destinations on the planet, you really will be spoiled for choice. Alongside the more standard treatments, the best Mauritian spas incorporate fitness, nutrition, yoga, meditation, retreats and indigenous rituals into their programmes, so there’s something for every body, mind and soul.

4.Get a bird’s eye view

Even if your time in transit is seriously limited, you can still explore the island’s lush green landscape and reef-fringed coastline from the comfort of an Air Mauritius helicopter. Our aerial sightseeing tours will help you make the most of your precious few hours, so sit back and gaze upon swirling blue seascapes, swaying sugar cane fields, and the mountainous green forests of the island’s interior.
