Ngerende Island Lodge enjoys a simply beautiful setting. Located within an oxbow on the Mara River. The lodge shares its river-side plot with two large pods of hippos, at famous look-out points that have been popular with visitors for many years. The lodge is situated on the Olchoro – Oirogua Conservation Ranch which borders the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The Ranch covers more than 5000 acres of mainly open savannah, except along the banks of the Mara River which are heavily wooded and are ideal habitat for wildlife. The lodge lies at 5300 feet above sea level and is serviced by its own airstrip. Ngerende has been stylishly designed providing an ideal safari experience where comfort, luxury and personal service combine naturally with the beautiful wilderness of the Masai Mara. This boutique lodge offers exclusive accommodation, sleeping just 14 guests in individual and contemporary designed suites. All seven rooms offer stunning views of the Mara River. Whilst in the main building, the dining room extends onto the verandah overlooking the Mara River and the nearby hippo pool. There is an abundance of wildlife all protected by the conservation ranch and an exclusive project to rear White Rhino to release into the Mara. There is a honeymoon suite which is isolated from the main camp, to provide extra privacy. Located in the Mara Conservancy, with its abundant wildlife, activities at Ngerende are focused around game-viewing. Using our own 4x4 vehicles, sit back and enjoy the scenery and the 'greatest show on earth'. Our expert guides and spotters are all professional and have an amazing eye for finding the animals, birds and reptiles for which the Masai Mara is so justifiably famous.
