Kitale is a pleasant, small town in the middle of lush farmland between the Cherangani Hills and Mount Elgon.
It is known mainly for its fruit and vegetables, and is a base from which tourists can explore the Cherangani Hills, Mount Elgon (on the Uganda border) and the Saiwa Swamp National Park.
