Ape Escape
This is for the Great Ape purist or dream beach fanatic - a short stay at Greystoke camp only; chimpanzee viewing and hiking combined with the ultimate beach holiday by the gin-clear waters of Lake Tanganyika. It's a great add-on to any bush safari, when, for a few idyllic days, people can leave dust, vehicles and safari stress well behind them and find freedom in paradise.

Travel by air in the morning, arriving Mahale by lunchtime. Picnic on our 40-foot dhow, during an hour's voyage to camp. Short evening forest walk. Overnight Greystoke

Mornings chimpanzee tracking. Afternoons exploring the forest, beach life or goggling, fishing. Overnights Greystoke

After breakfast, leave camp and take boat back to the airstrip with a pack-lunch. Arrive by air at destination a few hours later.
