Che Shale
Che Shale is a remote beach approximately 20 kilometres north of Malindi. At certain tides sandbars stretch out into the ocean and the wide beach curves around to a rocky point where visitors snorkel, and, unlike the white sandy beaches found elsewhere on Kenya's coastline, the mineral makeup of the sand gives the beaches at Che Shale a shimmery golden glow.
Despite feeling like a relatively undiscovered, quiet location, Che Shale is now internationally renowned for being the pioneer of Kitesurfing in East Africa - as well as the top kitesurf spot - with ideal conditions for learners and experienced riders.
