Che-Shale is a small, friendly, beach getaway set amongst waving coconut palms, just north of Malindi, on the north Kenya coast. Located on a remote point and flanked by kilometres of empty beach, Che Shale is a Robinson Crusoe-style oasis of relaxation and coastal hospitality.

Five rustic, thatched-roofed “kikapu” (woven palm leaf) cottages nestle amongst the trees and provide a shady refuge to read or doze on day beds. The large restaurant and lounge provides a lively gathering place for meals and drinks around the bar or reclining on large floor cushions.

The cuisine at Che-Shale is well known for its wide variety of fresh seafood, tasty pasta dishes and refreshing salads. A large menu offers the guest everything from luxurious platters to simple, light mediterranean meals, full of local colourful ingredients.

Che-Shale is designed for those who want to find complete relaxation, who love the wind and the sound of the sea. Not only does the lodge provide endless opportunities for relaxation and reflection but for those who enjoy the outdoors, endless beaches and great conditions for water-sports are right on the doorstep! Justin Aniere, director, is responsible for introducing kite-surfing to Kenya and is involved in the daily activities in the water.

The dining room is open to the public for lunch and dinner, provided bookings are made in advance. There are two small private dining rooms for up to twelve guests and weddings and large functions can also be catered for.

Che-Shale operates on environmentally-friendly principles and contributes to social development projects in the surrounding villages.
