The Driftwood Beach Club lies 3 kilometers south of Malindi town center, or a 5 minute drive from the Malindi airport. It is situated on the beautiful Silver Sands beach. The Driftwood has been running for over 40 years and is a favorite of Kenya residents from upcountry. As it is small and privately owned, it is able to maintain a friendly atmosphere, as its logo states: "Informality at its Best".
The Bar and Restaurant are very open and airy overlooking the beach, the sea and the swimming pool. There are three types of accommodation. The standard chalets which are individually located in the very spacious grounds giving each chalet its own space. They are air-conditioned, en-suite and vary in size. The two superior cottages are in a walled garden and share a swimming pool allowing for extra privacy. They each comprise two spacious bedrooms, en suite and air-conditioned, a sitting room and the verandah.
Across a small access road are the three Driftwood Villas which, again, are nestled in a walled garden and share a swimming pool. The rooms are very spacious, air conditioned, en suite and each villa sleeps four. They are particularly good for a large group of friends or three families but can also be let individually.
The Driftwood is very close to Malindi where there are plenty of interesting things to see and do and many varied restaurants to visit. The history of the town itself goes back over five centuries and, nearby, are the famous Gedi Ruins. For bird watchers there are three world acclaimed Important Bird Areas in close proximity. There is fabulous snorkeling and scuba diving close by as well as kite surfing for both learners and those who are more experienced All these activities can be organised for you by the Driftwood. Tsavo Park, with its wonderful elephant population, is also easily accessible.
