Lake Nakuru National Park
Lake Nakuru National Park, which covers an area of 188 kilometres squared, is world famous for its spectacular aquatic and terrestrial birdlife of international reputation.
Lake Nakuru is a shallow alkaline lake in the rift valley. The national park comprises the lake and its surrounding areas. The landscape includes areas of marsh and grasslands alternating with rocky cliffs and outcrops, stretches of acacia woodland and rocky hillsides covered with a Euphorbia forest on the eastern perimeter.
The lake is world famous as the location of the greatest bird spectacle on earth - myriads of fuschia pink flamingoes whose numbers often reach more than a million.
