Alan was born and raised in Kenya, his family have lived in Kenya for several generations. Alan founded Lets Go Travel in 1979, since when he has become one of East Africa's best known and longest established tour operators.

Alan is committed to developing a more responsible practise in tourism. He has been a member of the Laikipia Wildlife Forum for a number of years, and is a member of their Main Board and Tourism Committee, working with many local communities in uplifting their incomes through tourism related initiatives.
Alan has been on the Financial committee of the Community Development Trust Fund which assists and distributes funds from the EU to various community projects involved in environmental conservation and linked with wildlife and tourism.
He offers support to community projects, e.g. Limuru Children Centre.
