Karen Blixen Camp in the Masai Mara offers an authentic ’yesteryear’ experience for visitors wishing to gain that little extra from their safari. Set on the bank of the Mara River the location is spectacular, with the great Mara plains behind the camp and the impressive escarpment and Mara River in front. Throughout the day, zebras, elephants and hippos come to drink from the river. 
 Long gone are the days when staying in a tented camp meant roughing it. You will find that the Karen Blixen Camp experience is a step back in time with the luxuries of today. The camp is made up of 22 spacious tents set on large platforms – each with a veranda from which you can enjoy an afternoon siesta taking in the wonderful surroundings. The tents are furnished with comfortable furniture for the ultimate camping luxury. 19 tents are placed along the riverbank, whilst 3 units are situated on raised platforms offering incredible views of the area. Each of the tents has private toilet and shower. Camp facilities also include a restaurant, a bar and a swimming pool, and wellness treatments are offered by the resident masseuse. As Karen Blixen Camp is situated in one of the most densely populated wildlife areas in the world, game viewing is never a disappointment. We suggest that visitors leave the camp early in the morning, return for a hearty breakfast and relaxation before proceeding on an afternoon/evening drive. Picnic lunches can be provided for full day game drives. Animals often seen on game drives in the area include lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, giraffe and zebra, to name but a few. A ‘must do’ activity from Karen Blixen Camp is a night drive, where we look for the nocturnally active species.
