Maji Moto Camp

Maji Moto Camp

Location Lake Manyara National Park
Meal Plan Full Board
Maji Moto is located on the remote southwestern shores of Lake Manyara, northern Tanzania and it is the only camp in the national park. From whichever direction you approach Lake Manyara, it is a most dramatic spectacle. Here, the Great Rift Valley is at its most impressive, with the rock escarpment dropping some 500 metres down to the glassy surface of the lake. Wedged in between is a narrow band of acacia woodland, grassy flood plains and verdant ground-water forest which make up the traversable part of this small but incredibly diverse national park. Despite its small size Manyara supports an incredible diversity of birds, especially waterfowl. Maji Moto takes its name from the nearby hot springs. Ten classic safari tents nestled within a small evergreen forest of Mahogany, Wild Mango and Fig trees. The tents have twin beds, which are convertible to double beds. The bathroom is en suite with separate shower, hand basin and w.c. There are electrical outlets and a mosquito net graces the bed. Maji Motos guest areas include a reception, small curio shop which carries a range of Maji Moto branded T-shirts and sun hats. The tented dining area is open sided as is the separate bar/lounge area which affords one tranquil hours of contemplative reflection with views of Lake Manyara. Furnishings are all locally crafted. At night delicious Pan African cuisine is enjoyed in the sheltered boma (reeded enclosure). A constant procession of birds and animals move to and from the lake and in the trees around the camp. Morning and afternoon game viewing drives in open-topped vehicles in Lake Manyara National Park. Excellent bird viewing and picnics on the lake shore.
