Naro Moru is a small market town in central Kenya, lying on the Naro Moru River, between Nyeri and Nanyuki. Its main industry is tourism, as a base for hikers ascending Mount Kenya, to its east. The Naro Moru River flows through the town.

Kisoro

Kisoro
Kisoro is a small town situated in the south western corner of Uganda, approximately 41 kilometres west of Kabale. It lies east of Rumangabo in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Virunga Mountains. Kisoro is located in a wonderful setting under the peaks of the Mufumbiro Mountains which are part of the Virunga Mountains and home to the rare Mountain Gorilla. Because of this, Kisoro has become a magnet to tourists. Mountainous scenery, Lake Mutanda, Mountain Gorillas, colorful markets, and volcano trekking provide an array of activities for visitors to do. Kisoro is just about the end of the road for those visiting western Uganda. It is the nearest town to the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and is the access town for those proceeding to Rwanda or the Democratic Republic of the Congo for gorilla tracking in the Parc Des Volcans or the Parc Des Virunga.

Moshi

Moshi is situated at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro, at an altitude of 890 meters above sea level. It is the base from which to climb the mountain. The town is set in a fertile area, well fed by streams off the mountain, where coffee is grown. Other crops include cereals, beans and bananas and there is some cattle farming.

Mtito Andei

Mtito Andei is a small, roadside town about half way between Nairobi and Mombasa. It is on the railway line. There are petrol stations, a few places to eat, and road side hotels. The main gate entry for Tsavo West National park is here.

Nyahururu

Thompsons Falls, Nyahururu
Nyahururu is situated at the Northern end of the Aberdare Range, and is one of the highest towns in Kenya. It is known for the Thompson's Falls where the Euaso Narok river plunges 72 meters into the densely forested gorge below. It grew around a railway from Gilgil opened in 1929. The region around Nyahururu is mainly Agricultural. Egerton University's Laikipia campus is on the outskirts of Nyahururu town. Nyahururu is also used for training marathon runners for before major events due to the high altitude.

Kericho the the centre of the tea growing area in Western Kenya is at an altitude of 2042m/6697 ft. It has a temperate climate and high rain fall that is favourable for tea growing. The town is surrounded by large tea estates, forests and also small holdings.

Takaungu is a small rural village located on the Kenyan Coast between Mombasa and Malindi, in the Kilifi District, Coast Province. Fishing and a local coral quarry are the predominate industries. Gilgil

Lake Elementaita

Gilgil is a small town on the edge of the Great Rift Valley, between Naivasha and Nakuru. The Malewa river flows down from the Aberdare Range and on into Lake Naivasha. This river has trout in it.
Close by is Lake Elementaita, a soda lake which is a haven for many resident and migrant birds, and seasonal home to flocks of Flamingo. There is a pre-historic site at Kariandusi.

Fort Portal

towards the Mountains of the Moon

Fort Portal is located just over 300kms. to the west of Kampala, at 5,000 feet above sea level, in the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains (Mountains of the Moon). It is a small, fairly quite town, which is the regional headquarters.
Enjoying an excellent, almost temperate climate, and the River Mpanga meanders through the municipality. The country surrounding Fort Portal is tea growing country.
