Oribi Guest House
The guesthouse has three bedrooms, two doubles and one triple. There is also an annex for accommodating accompanying domestic staff or drivers.
There is a sitting room with a log fire and doors leading to a veranda, an open- plan dining area leading off the sitting room.There is one bathroom with shower and WC. The kitchen is equipped with stove, kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery, and glasses.
There is a Caretaker, electricity, kerosene lamps, blankets, pillows, bed linen, mosquito nets, towels, soap and toilet tissue.
It has solar power
Facilities : Green Energy: lights , fridge and hot water system getting power from solar energy.
Kimemo Cottages
Set on a mature coffee farm, our five self-catering cottages are fully equipped and comfortably furnished. Each enjoys its own beautiful spacious garden, surrounded by stunning panoramic views. Whether you are on business (internet access provided) or holiday, this it the perfect place for peace and privacy. You will be able to go on coffee tours that start from Kimemo’s Café, you will have an introduction to coffee, and the personal history of coffee within this family.
On the tour you will be guided through the many processes that takes the bean from the tree to the cup. On your return
to Kimemo’s café you will see and smell the roasting and packaging where the aroma of coffee fill your senses. N
Kauro Guest House
The Kauro Guest House, in Sera Conservancy, is a fully-furnished, self-catering facility with 2 en-suite bandas each with a double bed, central dining area and separate kitchen. The guest house is serviced by a cook, housekeeper and security is provided by the Conservancy scouts. Visitors must bring all food and drinks.
The Kauro Guest House is in a tranquil location hidden amongst Doum Palms on the edge of the Kauro lugga. A perfect oasis amidst the arid rangelands of the north; Sera is a walking destination where you can truly experience the vast wilderness of the area and observe the gentle pace of pastoralist life. Sera is home to resident wildlife, including buffalo, elephant, Reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, gerenuk as well as abundant birdlife. Lion, leopard and caracal are regularly seen in the area.
Sera Wildlife Conservancy is situated about 20km east of Serolivi town (approximately 4 hours drive from Nanyuki north on the Isiolo-Marsabit road), 4x4 access only. The Conservancy has an airstrip (length approx. 820m) 15 minutes walk from the Guest House and close by to the Headquarters.
Sera Wildlife Conservancy is a community conservation initiative belonging to the Samburu people.
Lake Jipe Bandas
Lake Jipe Bandas are located on the shores of Lake Jipe, Tsavo West, close to the Tanzanian border at Taveta.
There are three units. Each is equipped with 2 single beds. Showers and toilets are communal.
There is a Caretaker, bedding, Mosquito nets, water for cooking, kerosene lamps, utensils and jikos.
You need to take with you all your drinking water, food and beverages, gas cooker or cooking stove, candles, flashlights or torches, insect repellent, firewood and charcoal.
Pelican House
Pelican House is a thatched upcountry cottage, situated on Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Three Bedrooms open onto the covered veranda and a wooden deck extends out towards the dam and extensive views. Electricity comes from a quiet generator. There is house and garden staff available and security is provided. The grounds are maintained, a lawn and colourful gardens, but the natural bush habitat surrounds it all.
As a safe and secure private sanctuary, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy can guarantee a hassle-free safari experience with amazing wildlife viewing on good all-weather roads. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy’s main gate is 14 kilometers from the equator turn off, just before Nanyuki town. Follow the signs. Pelican House is 8k further inside the reserve, ask the Guards. Visitors to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy will pay a conservation fee for each day spent inside the Conservancy which includes a visit to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
Pelican House is exclusively designed to support Ol Pejeta’s Community Development Programmes. Thus while a visit to a world class conservation entity is an experience in itself – to which Pelican House is of notable regard – every shilling spent at the house goes to assist our community neighbours.
Mulikani Community Bands
Mulikani Community Bands are situated on the mouth of where the the main Tana River meets the Indian Ocean.
Perched a top the sand dunes, overlooking the ocean, the fresh water river and shade dappled mangrove swamps is a simply built lodge with thatched roof. Mulikani is managed by the community.
There is 35 kms of beach & ocean to enjoy, river fishing, mangroves to explore, boat trips up the main Tana River and over 400 bird species to identify.
Interesting nature walks along the top of the dunes can produce wonderful bird sightings as well as occasionally buffalo, elephant, eland, bushbuck sightings.
Facilities.
The lodge is a simple open structure, with a dining, lounge area.
All the kitchen and dining utensils are provided. There are chairs & tables.
The lodge is staffed with friendly community members. There is a basic cook and staff to clean & do laundry.
The lodge is booked on self catering basis only. There is no fridge or freezer.
Fresh fish can be caught daily.
How to get there.
From Malindi, take the main road to Lamu, at Witu take the turning right which leads you to down to Kipini. Approx 2.5 hours drive.
Park at the KWS compound in Kipini where you will be met by the Community staff, they will assist you with your entire luggage to the boat. The boat trip takes approx 15 minutes over to the other side of the river mouth where there Mulikani Bandas are.
