The house commands superb views of the arm of Indian Ocean that separates the islands of Lamu and Manda. It towers over the dhows and their crews sliding out to the ocean or returning to the quiet waters bordering Lamu town and Shela after a night of fishing in deep ocean. You have 270 degrees breathtaking but peaceful views of the to and fro of boats entering and leaving the archipelago!

Newly built in authentic swahili style and exquisitely finished, Forodhani House sleeps comfortably 10 to 13 people, in 5 ensuite bedrooms (3 double and 2 triple), all with stunning sea-views.

With lots of different areas to take it easy in (near the pool, in main lounge, in garden, dining room, or on barazza beds and seats, shaded or not, at ground, 1st or 2nd floors, in little lounge bar, or on top top terrace), it is really the ideal place to stay with family or friends (10 adults or 3 families), to relax, be lulled by the lapping waves and cooled by the gentle sea breeze which is so refreshing at these latitudes.

Here you will be able to relax (4 staff, among them a very good cook, to pamper you), enjoy the pristine white sand beach and its activities (sailing, swimming, snorkelling, windsurfing, fishing…), discover Lamu Old Town (the rich Swahili culture and its welcoming atmosphere)... But you will also be able to take the most of Nature, which is truly at its best.

The house is white, with round or Arabic arches which frame sea views, sky at day or night, and sails sliding silently. I always find it magic! Palm trees, ylang-ylang’s, frangipanes, bougainvilleas add some colours and scents. And from Forodhani House, because of its so particular location, the show is always there: you are having breakfast and you suddenly see school of sardines jumping, trying to escape barracudas, or dolphins swimming up the Channel, or a friends’ dhow sliding from one arch to the other, or a fishermen boat coming from the open seas with load of tunas. It’s both relaxing and so interesting!

Twiga House is a Private property located on the shore of lake Naivasha which is home to thousands of flamingos and hippo families.

The main house is beautifully decorated and has three double bedrooms, a large wooden deck, a spacious kitchen and a large lounge. On the same property is an equally beautiful guest cottage with its own wooden deck and two bedrooms. Between the two houses lies a swimming pool, also overlooking the lake.

The Swahili house is located in the charming little village of Shela, just 100 meters from the sea front. Built on 3 floors around an open courtyard, the 5 bedrooms can sleep up to 10 people. Each room is self contained and has a king size bed. There are sitting areas on each floor to provide privacy to everyone. The roof top terrace overlooks the sea and dunes and provides additional lounging areas with a Moroccan style corner and a swing bed.The house staff is composed of a cook and a room steward and the laundry is provided.

Shela House, in Shela Town, is built on three floors around an open courtyard, the house well and an ancient gardenia. The entrance hall leads into the courtyard, edged by a baraza sitting and eating area. Two staircases lead to the upper rooms. There are five ensuite bedrooms - three double bedrooms, another with two large four-poster single beds and a smaller single bedroom. There is also a nursery room. A second floor dayroom and terrace provide additional lounging areas. Most time is spent relaxing on the two rooftops. The house has experienced staff to ensure your comfort.

Palm House, situated in Shela town, Lamu, is designed around an open courtyard. The living and dining areas look onto the courtyard and another small side garden. It is spacious, yet compact - two doubles and one twin bedroom on the first floor, all ensuite with private balconies. The second floor has an open terrace, which leads off to a small covered baraza area in front of the fourth bedroom. This master bedroom has a Lamu four-poster bed and balconies on two sides. There is a panoramic view from the covered rooftop, with a bar, sun beds and baraza lounging area. This house is let on a weekly basis from Saturdays.

Mwembe ( Mango ) is an upmarket resort, set in a beautiful enormous garden with swmimmingpool,tenniscourt and fitness centre.,The villas consist of one or two A/C bedrooms, sittingroom, kitchen and dining area.

Mnarani House is a 4 bedroom house set in the village of Shela, on the tip of Lamu Island, a short distance from the 15kilometer long Shella beach. There are 3 double bedrooms with fans and mosquito nets. There are solar hot water showers in each room. Three levels give several areas for lounging. A full time cook and house staff are there to take care of you.

CURRENTLY CLOSED - SORRY . Lolldaiga Farm House is a traditional cedar log house, situated on Lolldaiga Ranch, in Laikipia. The house consists of 3 double bedrooms with bathrooms, in which there is ample space for extra beds for childen. There is a large dinning and sitting room, with open fire place, and a veranda with spectacular view across to Mount Kenya. Game drives, guided walks, camel walks & mountain biking: Experience at first hand the mixed wildlife/livestock system of the ranch and unparalleled richness in biodiversity. More than 60 species of large mammals reside including lion, leopard, wild dog, cheetah and hyaenas and over 300 bird species. You may come across our cattle herds or sheep flocks along your way and immediately afterwards a herd of eland, zebra, hartebeest, giraffe or elephant. Hike through spectacular mountain scenery, high altitude and riverine forests of majestic Juniper procera and Olea africana, and low Acacia savannah plains. Archaeological sites: Visit stone-age rock shelters where curious finger painting adorns the walls and many other prehistoric sites. Ranch activities: There are many ranch activities going on around us all the time. You are welcome to participate. Try your hand at milking cows; see traditional sheep shearing in January; handle a young lamb, calf or foal. Ox wagon trip: Ox wagons are used for daily transport and riding on one is a soothing and evocative experience. Sundown trip: The tallest peaks in the Laikipia are a spectacular vantage point. Enjoy a peaceful sunset over the Great Rift Valley.

Kisimani House is situated on Lamu Island a minute's walk from Peponi Hotel on Shela Beach. Originally built in the early 18th Century for the Caliph of Zanzibar, Kisimani has been carefully restored, extended and beautifully furnished in Swahili style. A large and heavy carved Lamu door opens into cool spacious interiors which provide a welcome contrast to the brilliant heat outside.
